Dave Len Scott, Music Director
Dave Len Scott began serving as St. Andrew’s msic director in mid-January 2023. Dave enjoys jazz and gospel music and brings opportunities for us to expand our musical repertoire on Sunday mornings, and possibly create a monthly alternative spiritual offering for the wider community. He has an extensive background as a professional church musician and performance artist. In San Francisco, he served as Composer and Artist-In-Residence with Calvary Presbyterian Church, as Music Director with Bethany United Methodist Church, and Musician at the prominent Glide Methodist Church, as well as the Church Organist for St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Sedona, and offers private piano lessons in Flagstaff. He plays piano, organ and trumpet, has toured with Boz Skaggs and Rosemary Clooney, and collaborated with members of the Doobie Brothers for fundraising concerts. Dave is also an accomplished composer and arranger, and has produced several jazz CDs. Dave’s personal church upbringing started in the United Church of Christ denomination in his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He earned a B.Mus. at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and a M.Mus. at the University of Northern Colorado-Greeley.
Music is integral to our worship at St. Andrew’s. We offer traditional hymns from Episcopal hymnals (Hymnal 1982, Wonder Love & Praise, Voices Found, and Lift Every Voice and Sing), and are exploring music resources of other denominations, as well as “paperless music,” to inspire new kinds of singing in community.
