We acknowledge and pay respect to the Yavapai Apache, Hopi, Navajo, and Ancient peoples
as the original inhabitants of the land and their role as custodians of this land given to them
by our one and only Creator God. We commit ourselves to actively work alongside indigenous
people for reconciliation and justice as we live into our Baptismal Covenant and respect the
dignity of every person.
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Sedona is active with the Council for Native American Ministry, a
ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona. The Council works with congregations to live into
our Guiding Principles: Remembrance, Recognition, Reconciliation and Relationship. And our
main focus is building relationships – knowing our neighbors.
St. Andrew’s collaborates with local Native partners by offering a native ceremony and worship
service on Indigenous Peoples Sunday (2nd Sunday of October); supporting Native Seed
regeneration through our Chile|Native Seeds Garden (blue corn, tepary beans, Sacaton Gold
Squash) and relationship with Native Seeds|SEARCH; and by offering donations of groceries,
water, toiletries, face masks, hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies to Navajo people through St.
Mary’s of the Moonlight Episcopal Church, Oljato-Monument Valley, UT, and Hopi people
through a partnership with the Verde Valley Archeology Center.
