An ecumenical group gathers bi-weekly on Monday afternoons for quiet centering prayer and reflection on works by contemplative writers. The group is led by lay leaders from St. Andrew’s and other churches in Sedona. Meets on 2nd and 4th Mondays.
CONTEMPLATIVE PRAYER & WORSHIP
An ecumenical group gathers in the chapel area for Contemplative Prayer and Worship on Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am. Inspiring readings are shared from sacred and secular texts. Periods of silent meditation separate the 4-5 readings. Participants are invited to reflect on the readings before closing with a time of prayer.
The Gospel Co-op worship service, which meets every Thursday at 10:00am, developed following a weekend program with Phyllis Tickle on Emergence Christianity. Co-op refers to the cooperative nature of leadership involved in the three main parts of our worship time. We begin with a reflection on the Gospel reading for the upcoming Sunday in a lectio divina pattern. Then each of us lights a votive candle and offers prayers of thanksgiving, petition, and intercession. The service continues as we share in celebrating the Eucharist, and closes with a blessing and dismissal.
