Ashes-to-Go is the annual observance of Ash Wednesday when we mark the beginning of the holy season of Lent in preparation for the mystery of Easter. Around midday on Ash Wednesday, parish clergy and lay leaders gather at Uptown Sedona to offer ashes and blessings to passersby amidst the busy-ness of daily life. Ashes are an ancient sign of penitence. The ashen sign of the cross on our foreheads reminds us of our connection with God who creates, heals, and sustains us through the brokenness in our lives. We are made in the image of God and of the dust of the stars. God invites us to love and return to love throughout the day and our entire lives. God is Love, our source and our destination. Remember that you are from the dust of the stars and to the stars you shall return.
